big country ;)

So we've moved. 

Yep, we just up and Beverly-Hill-Billied it to rural-town U.S.A. 

We moved to "the city" six months ago, and it just didn't do it for us so we took a leap of faith and moved our family to one of the most wonderful places on the face of the earth.  Population 212.  +7

  Our neighbors "across the slew" brought us this gorgeous pot of wildflowers to welcome us to the "neighborhood"...

We're country folk now... 

Really, really country. 

We're living the country dream.

It's not too different for me though, as a child, I grew up in an even smaller town in Star Valley Wyoming. That's just over the river and through the woods from here so it's like coming home for me. Except that that was over 30 years ago and I wasn't the one cooking dinners then.

We've got a pond in the back yard, mountains on every side, a buffalo herd across the way and the Tetons just up the road.  The snake river is just over there and the corner square ice cream store is getting very familiar with our kids in the four days we've been here.  A little too familiar maybe.

We'll be planting a garden this week.  We might be a bit late, but we are planting anyway.

Sunflowers, tomatoes, radishes, beets, squash, cilantro and jalapenos are on deck.  Oh and pickling cucumbers.  And pumpkins.

We wake up to a chorus of birds and ducks and frogs every morning instead of the roar of cars and motorcycles and jets (oh my!).  There is a bumble bee that camps out in the tree/bush outside our front door and that's the only fly by we get here in the country.

We've got "horsies" in the field "next door" to us that the kids love to pick grass for and feed and we are going to go buy sugar cubes to insure their friendship forever.

 Or maybe we'll make sugar cubes since the nearest grocery store is 45 miles away. 

A place this beautiful calls for a deluxe camera that can capture the essence of Idaho.  Until then, you'll be getting photo's from my phone camera and they may or may not be from the passenger side of my hubby's truck as we are driving down the road sight seeing. :)
