Fences-to keep some things in and some things out

So we let our chickens free range during the day and it's wonderful. They are fun, and funny and friendly and they roam around our ranch (hubby disagrees with the title hobby farm) and eat stuff. They come running when someone throws veggie scraps to them (except asparagus- they won't eat that) and they eat bugs and worms after it rains. They really eat everything (except asparagus) that we feed them, but that's also a problem because they would eat the garden if we let them. IMO there's no reason to go to all the work of planting if our lovely chickens just think our garden is there very own personal smorgasbord.
So I went all trump and built a fence.

Now you know that I am queen of cheap and have no desire to spend a lot of money when we have perfectly good resources on the prop. We have willows. We have willows around our pond, but the hubby hates them.   I just keep thinking, *free material*.
I only used the dead ones though for two reasons.
1. If I use live ones they can propagate and that would mean more willows for hubby to hate and 2. Since hubby hates them, he arranged for someone to come and remove them for a conservation project.
I totally underestimated (as always) the time it would take to build this garden fence, but three days later and some seriously stretched hammy's and I was done. The kids helped some, but I mostly built it while they were in school.
There. Veggies in. Chickens out.
It's a little blair-witch-project-esque, but that's good because then it doubles as a scarecrow.
