myth busting, new baby and baked goods

I just want to get a few things off my chest. So there's a myth out there that says if you don't have powdered sugar, then you can just put regular granulated sugar in the blender?

B.S. my friends. B.S.

Can you tell I'm just a little disillusioned?  Yeah.
When one runs out of powdered sugar the day of her daughters birthday and has already been to the store six, count 'em 6, times one tends to not want to go again.  (Honestly, I know that if I hadn't procrastinated, I wouldn't have been in that predicament, but then I wouldn't have something to rant on about either.)

If it has actually worked for you I'd really like to know what kind of industrial blender you used, because we have a pretty good blender.  It's no slouch, but I'm here to tell ya, that even after many many many minutes in the blender, it still ruined a whole batch of cream cheese frosting.
So, Myth BUSTED!

 errrr...something like that.

Another myth busted that may be quite a relief to you is the "watched pot doesn't boil" myth.
Actually, I think that that saying is trying to tell us that if you cover your pan with a lid, it will boil faster, but whatev.  I still busted it.

waste of time? maybe, but a watched pot does indeed boil

This ramble brought to you by new grand baby fatigue.
born in the wee hours of the morning
Definitely worth the lack of sleep...

I just love, love, love stained glass.  This nice piece is in the hospital meditation room.

I will be working on some faux stained glass here in the next week.  I can't promise it will look as good as this, but I'm looking forward to the project.
I saw the idea in a 2001 BH&G magazine, have had the materials to do the project for well over four years and am blogging about it so I will hold myself accountable.
I may need a nap first, but I am so doing a stained glass project.

Tomorrow is opening day of hunting for my hubby.  I need to go make yummy yummy baked goods so he can take them with him.

Good thing oatmeal cookies do NOT require powdered sugar...

P.S.  Someone else went to the store for me and my daughters birthday cake turned out beautiful...

hummingbird cake
And delicious.  (So I heard.)

  1. Ohhh how I love your yummy homemade treats... What makes them the best is knowing they are made with love. If the hunting is not good, the treats will be. Thanks, you're the Best...
